Newtonian Collimator 1.25"Lasercollimator

The Newtonian laser collimator has a long 1.25" barrel and a machined rim for proper alignment. These very relevant parts of the laser's function are CNC machined. All new 45 degree angled viewing port for easier viewing from the rear of the telescope.

It is very easy to use, simply insert the laser collimator into the 1.25" focuser or 2" focuser's 1.25" eyepieces adapter, to adjust the secondary mirror, the red dot of the laser hits the center of the primary mirror then tilt the primary mirror so that the return red dot hits the target on the laser collimator. But please check for both high and low focuser positions to make sure the red dot stays at the same place.

Cassegrain reflector

A type of reflecting telescope (Reflector) in which the light from the object under study is reflected from the main mirror to a convex secondary, and then back to the eyepiece through a central hole in the main mirror.

Arc, degree of

One three hundred and sixtieth part of a full circle (360°)

Arc, minute of

One sixtieth part of a degree of arc. One minute of arc (1') is in turn divided into 60 seconds of arc(60")

Arc, second of

One sixtieth part of a minute of arc. One second of arc: 1".

Equatorial mount

A Telescope mounting in which the instrument is set upon an axis which is parallel to the axis of the Earth; the angle of the axis must be equal to the observer's latitude.

Supernova

The explosion of a star. Supernovae come in two types: Type I is caused by sudden nuclear burning in a white dwarf star. Type II is caused by the collapse of the core of a supermassive star at the end of its nuclear-burning life. In either case, the star is destroyed and the light given off in its explosion briefly rivals the total light given off by a whole galaxy.

Seeing

The quality of observing conditions induced by turbulence in Earth’s atmosphere, which blurs the images of astronomical objects

Magnitude

The measurement of an object's brightness; the lower the number, the brighter the object

UT

Abbreviation for Universal Time, the local time of day on a line of longitude centered on Greenwich, England; also known as Greenwich Mean Time, it forms the basis for all civil timekeeping

Barlow lens

A lens attachment placed into the focuser of a telescope, into which an eyepiece is placed to increase its magnification.

Binary Star

A system of two stars that orbit a common center of gravity; also known as a double star

Waning

The period between full moon and new moon

Waxing

The period between new moon and full moon

Setting Circles

Circular scales on the two axes of an equatorial mount that help an observer point a telescope to a specific right ascension and declination

Aberration

In optics, this is an imperfect focus caused when a mirror or lens fails to bring light to a sharp focus

Our High quality Adjustment knobs are available from stock or special items can be made by request.

Machined by some of the most skilled CNC staff available to the telescope world with decades of experience, using CNC Lathes and milling machines, working to tight tolerances on a daily basis, we will be happy to quote you for any special astronomical components you need.
