Added 04 Jan 2010. Another great image from Peter Shah with his OOUK AG8 Astrograph. This image of NGC 2237, 2238, 2239 and 2246 - The Rosette Nebula, was taken with 80 mins in h-alpha, 50 mins in sulpher II, and 30 mins in oxygen III. Although the Rosette nebula is not very bright - it is much too faint to see with the naked eye - it has a striking circular shape resembling a flower. The Rosette nebula is in the Perseus Arm of the Galaxy and has a young star cluster at its centre.

UPDATE: AG Horsehead Nebula Image

Added 22 Dec 09. Peter Shah takes some stunning images with his OOUK AG8 Astrograph. This recent image of the Horsehead Nubula in Orion took a total of 2 hours and 50 mins. 70mins in Ha, 40mins in red and 30mins in blue and green.....this was taken with Orange Bright Optics filters, none UV/IR blocked - final render was Ha, RGB

NEWS: AG8 Astrograph hosts SkyCamZ on Liverpool Telescope

Added: 03 November 09. An Orion Optics UK AG8 Astrograph is helping with imaging science on the 2.0 metre Fully Robotic Liverpool Telescope at the Observatorio del Roque Los Muchachos on the Canary island of La Palma, Spain.

Mounted piggyback on the LT's secondary mirror top-end ring, SkyCamZ consists of a 1024x1024 pixel Andor ikon-M camera mounted on an Orion Optics AG8 8-inch newtonian refector.

As part of the commissioning tests, the opportunity was taken to image the LCROSS spacecraft, en-route to deliberately impact the Moon's south pole on October 9th to look for the presence of water.
