The AG8 is the 'introductory' model in our Astrograph range. Don’t let the aperture of 200mm make you think that this is a modest performer, for it’s aperture, it’s probably the best reflecting Astrograph available anywhere. If it’s not, we would love someone to correct us.
Carbon fibre tube is one of the keys to the success of this ‘scope, stabilising the focal length throughout an imaging session and staying collimated virtually for ever once set up.
Careful attention has been paid to the design of this and all of the AG’s in the range, exacting engineering and, superb optical components guarantee that once you have set up your AG8 you are ready to transform your opinion of what you are capable of producing in Deep Sky imaging.
The AG8 was the first model we developed and introduced to the range. It proved to be an immediate success because of the amount of development and field trials we carried out with the help of Peter Shah, arguably the UK’s leading Deep Sky imager. Peter was ultra critical both in corrector characteristics and performance and, coupled with stringent tolerances on engineering, these aspects complimented our mirrors to satisfy his, and to date, everybody else’s CCD imaging requirements.
We later developed the current range up to and including the AG16 which is now our second biggest seller, following the AG12 in popularity.
