The ODK10Tr Truss Optimised Dall-Kirkham Telescope is our premium 250mm (10-inch) introductory model, meticulously engineered for elite astrophotography and advanced visual astronomy. Hand-crafted and optically figured at our specialized facility in the UK, this optical tube assembly (OTA) is built to deliver world-class optical performance under the most demanding dark-sky conditions.
Advanced Carbon Fibre Truss Engineering
The ODK10Tr features a state-of-the-art open carbon fibre sandwich truss framework. This lightweight, ultra-rigid design completely eliminates structural flexure and minimises thermal expansion. By maintaining an incredibly stable focal position as ambient temperatures drop through the night, it removes the need for constant refocusing during long-exposure astrophotography runs.
Precision Optics & Wide Flat Field
At the core of the telescope is an uncompromised optical layout featuring a built-in, multi-coated 3-lens corrector. This advanced correction design delivers exceptionally tight, well-defined spot sizes down to 3.5µm on axis and just 6.2µm at the very edge of a massive, usable 50mm flat field. Pinpoint, aberration-free star profiles are maintained across large-format CCD and CMOS imaging sensors.
Heavy-Duty 3″ CERES Focuser
To support modern, heavy imaging trains, every ODK10Tr is fitted as standard with our precision-engineered 3” CERES focuser. This ultra-stable focusing platform offers a generous 213mm back-focal distance from the rear of the mirror cell, providing plenty of physical clearance for complex setups involving large filter wheels, off-axis guiders, adaptive optics, and rotators.
Optimized Thermal Management
To ensure rapid thermal equilibrium, the primary mirror cell is integrated with 3 controllable cooling fans, ensuring sharp, stable images right from the start of your imaging session. A honeycomb CNC-machined aluminium mirror cell supports the optics perfectly without introducing mechanical stress.
Every ODK10Tr is built to a bespoke quality standard. Custom structural variations, optional internal dew heaters, and matching mount attachment solutions are available below or upon request to perfectly match your observatory needs.
